Description

A Stealtho Magic Office Chair Caster Wheels might just be what you need for your office chair (or even your gaming chair) if you are one of those people who basically “live” sitting on your office chair at your workplace, sitting over 10, 12, or even 20 hours a day, as some workaholics do. Our mission at Stealtho was to design products that would meet the needs of the modern office worker.

Featuring a heavy-duty steel structure, the Stealtho Magic Office Chair Caster Wheels are made of high-tech elastic polyurethane and can be attached to most office chairs and gaming chairs. By using them, users can prevent scratches and marks from appearing on their hardwood floors. If you use a set of Stealtho wheels, you will not need to purchase an expensive protective office chair mat, which can be toxic and collect a lot of dirt and bacteria, discolor, have an unpleasant smell, and limit your movement.

With Stealtho’s Magic Office Chair Caster Wheels, you can easily roll over obstacles like cables and thresholds. In addition to glowing in the dark, the Magic Stealtho Wheels help you locate your seat during total darkness, allowing users to avoid injuries such as the classic “chair wheels kick,” which we are all familiar with, especially during the night when trying to move around our home office. As a final feature, they have a locking system that lets you fix the chair in the right position after locking the brakes on the wheels.

Wheels don’t rotate direction when weight is on the chair.

EDIT: Update. I removed the plexiglass matt I was using between my chair and short carpet and have had a better experience and am still using this product. It still has some difficulty changing direction but now I can just push through it and it goes ahead and moves instead of pitching me onto the floor. I now believe that at least in my case, the issue was that the soft rubber wheels have too much grip, especially when on a hard surface or a carpet protecting plastic matt. I am heavy at 250lbs and the grip was such that the wheels just couldn’t rotate to allow movement in any direction they are not already pointed unless I stood up. Direct on the throw rug, the wheel movement is usable although it still doesn’t roll as freely as I would like. I added another star to my rating to reflect. -DF—These seemed perfect for what I want and at first seemed good, but turns out after a month the wheels will not allow me to change direction without significant force. I assume it’s the bearings? Maybe the rubber has too much traction against the floor mat? Or both? Not sure. But I went from cheap hard plastic wheels that could turn and roll, to nicer quiet wheels that don’t allow me to roll my chair around as needed. I am using a Herman Miller chair on a plexiglass floor pad, but I have to stand up just to move the direction I want to about half the time. It’s random which direction will work but the wheels just don’t rotate when weight is on the chair. Half the time I try to scoot back to get up, the chair just says “no” and I almost tip over backward. I thought I could get used to them but they seem to be getting worse so I will have to find another brand to replace them.

    Smooth

I’ve had these for just over a year and half and this was the best thing I got for the chair. It rolls smooth over hard floors and carpet and while it claims it can roll over a power cord, I have yet to try it. Plus they look pretty cool.

    STEALTHO Caster Wheels

My wife, the love of my life, mother of my children, and my reason for being insisted that a plastic chair mat was all that was necessary for her home office with a wood floor. Two years later, that insistence has resulted in damage to the finish on the floor on the edges of the chair mat due to crumbs, cat hair, and other debris working itself under the edge of the mat.STEALTHO casters to the rescue! The chair mat made it to the waste bin and the casters snapped into place like a dream. These casters roll so smoothly and quietly that narry a cat tail nor small human toe is alerted to to the advancing doom presented by rolling Polyurethane headed in their direction. Here is where we run into trouble. While the bearings on the caster mount are very smooth, the polyurethane wheel is so supple that changing direction is a challenge because the wheel grips the floor like your mother-in-law grips that handle above her door while you drive her to her pottery class. So, if you change direction while using your office chair, be aware that changes in direction require substantial effort.

Deal breaker problems/ wonderful customer service

Ended up removing the wheels and putting on the stock Herman Miller wheels. The noise level and the additional height added with these wheels makes them unusable. No to mention the wheel gets stuck sideways and I have to jerk forward like a bull rider to move. Not worth it. IMO it’s a gimmick. But let’s be honest, rollerblades aren’t cool if they are on your feet, or your chairs. After being contacted by the seller to offer a refund or a replacement on their own will. I was given a full refund. So although the product didn’t meet my expectations their customer support far exceeded my expectations. Companies nowadays neglect the customers and this company has outshined many others. And for that reason alone I give them a better review.

Super Smooth Rolling Action on Fancy Hardwood Floor

I put these on one of those high-end Herman Miller Aeron office chairs that I brought home during the Covid-19 pandemic, work-from-home situation. The original H-M-A wheels would have eventually chewed-up my hardwood floor finish. These wheels are fantastic. Not only are they safe on my floor finish but they are super-silent rollers too. They are so smooth rolling that if I do a hard push-off from my desk I’d roll 20 feet like I was on ice.BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR CHAIR/WHEEL STEM TYPE! I have another H-M-A chair that I was about to buy wheels for and then realized that the chair’s original wheels have a hole for the stem and not the stem on the wheel like these STEALTHO wheels have.18 months later: The wheels have performed well with no issues at all. I just ordered another set for another chair that will also be used on fancy hardwood floors :-).~24 months later: Well… I’m starting to see that that the oldest wheel set from 2020 as well as the 2nd set for my other chair bought less than a year ago are now all exhibiting the same issue where the stem bearing is developing a “tilt” causing the wheels to not easily vertically rotate while sitting in the chair. This is a bummer since it forces me to work at rolling the chair around on the floor because the wheels want to keep tracking due to the small vertical off-angle all of the wheels have developed. I really miss the perfect way they worked in earlier months. It’s all due to the bearing under the stem hat. It just gets looser over time letting the “angle” to develop :-(.

Time will tell if it’s worth the money. (Edited)

Set of 5. 4 wheels spun freely, 1 did not. The ones that spun freely were noisy, with a hint of rattle and looseness. I’m hoping they will last. The one that doesn’t spin freely will still roll, but resistant to it.There’s some loose play / wobble where the stem joins to the body. If never gets any loser, it’s ok, but I suspect it will over time, and is a sign of a cheaply/poorly made product.I fear for the durability of this product. They advertise by comparing to skateboarding wheels. As a former skateboarder, these feel like the super-cheapos that came on a bought-it-at-walmart board, that you would replace at a reputable skate shop at your first opportunity. The chair as a whole still rolls //fairly easily, but nothing special. About the same as the stock wheels//. I liked the height increase since I’m a taller person, and the stock height was just a little too low for me.EDIT: Got a new carpet protector. On the hard surface, the chair rolls VERY easily, much more easily than stock wheels. I like it.//PS: They do not glow in the dark as advertised. Not even a little.//EDIT: I was wrong, they do glow in the dark. I wasn’t able to detect it before. Had to wait longer for my eyes to adjust to the dark to be able to see it.//Conclusion: I got taken to the cleaners on this.//EDIT: Conclusion: Rolling performance at the overall chair level now seems in line with what I expected. Glow in the dark is less than I expected, but it’s ok. I wouldn’t want them overly bright anyway. I still have concerns about the quality of construction.EDIT: Halfway through 2021 and they’re fine.

bearing set comes loose and can’t be tightened

I really wanted to like these. I did like these a lot for the first few weeks. Then the bearing sets on the vertical shaft going into the chair base started to become loose. You cant get a hex tool into the hex socket to tighten because the wheel is in the way and permanently mounted. Not even a ball tip hex can get in good enough. All but one of the five wheels has become so floppy I will need to replace them after less than two months. Unfortunately, my return period ran out while I tried to keep tightening them. Arrrggg! I do not suggest this brand. After 2 1/2 months of making the comment above I was contacted by the vendor and offered a refund while requesting an edit to my review. My edit is …. thank you for the refund and if you make the hex screw accessible to tighten the wheels would be great!

One and (almost) a half years of heavy use later… still satisfied

Edit 5/21/21: added a photo of the issue I discussed in my review. The axel turns out to not be removable so, with the aid of some vicegrips and a readily available ball end allen wrench, I tightened up the bolt and abandoned the idea of threadlok. Only took five minutes to check all of them and tighten them up a bit. If you’re not in the habit of checking your chair every couple of months it’s recommended as a little routine maintenance can be the difference between just having to tighten a bolt or breaking something or everything.I ordered these Jan. 24 2020 and the day of my review is May 16 2021, and this is for the non-locking version. For any context you might need I currently weigh a bit north of 200lbs (down from 250, though I partially blame the lockdown and easy access to snacks) and typically use my chair for 3-5hrs on work days and well over 12hrs/day on weekends. During lockdown my wife and I have sat in this chair together and these wheels were durable enough to support almost 400lbs as we rolled across the kitchen floor like maniacs right after putting these on.My computer and hobby desk is set up in a second bedroom so the thick carpet played havoc on the standard casters that came with my chair so after getting a workout throughout COVID lockdown I finally caved and went in search for replacement. I couldn’t get details from a set of Herman Millers on the stem size before they went out of stock but these Stealtho wheels stood out from the rest of the offerings by merit of their design, and were also about $100 cheaper. I was ready to make a temporary upgrade till they came back in stock but these have held up to the point my first choice have been back in stock but I don’t see the need to change, though one thing about them has me irked* which I’ll get to later. If you have a chair on thicker-than-typical-office carpet, rollerblade style wheels like this are what you need if you move your chair frequently and don’t want it to be a battle. I’m happy to say Stealtho wheels traverse over carpet fairly easily and, if you’re on a hard surface, they roll like butter. I later upgraded to a polycarbonate chair mat so I get almost the same experience, though I’ve yet to find one large enough for my needs. That bring up a further bonus of oversized chair wheels which many people don’t account for and that is they’re much better for going OVER things, so when my chair occasionally rolls off the mat it’s very easy to just get back on compared to what I imagine it is like with the stock office wheels. Cords also get rolled over easier, though that’s neither a pro nor a con.First off, just toss any consideration of the the glow in the dark feature out – they barely glow and certainly not enough to warn you of your chair’s location in the dark before your eyes would naturally adjust to the darkness.Second, these are very much opaque and not clear or semi-translucent as the pictures might make them appear.Last of these bullet points, if you’re looking for a quiet roll, these are almost silent aside from a squeak or two which I blame more on the polycarbonate mat than the wheels themselves though they might slightly be at fault (see further down for my one gripe). When I spoke about their design a few things stuck out – rounded, smooth edges. I tend to fidget with my feet when I’m absorbed or rest them on the legs of the chair and I have yet to be poked by any corners and the structure of these wheels doesn’t jut out from under the legs of the chair. The boxy body of other wheels can have this issue and if you’ve ever had your foot slip off onto the sharp corner of a caster it’s not fun! I can also confirm that these did not mark my kitchen floor and have left ZERO marks on my mat and furthermore, despite a year and closing in on six months of heavy use, the elastic polyurethane of the wheels hasn’t worn down* —–> Now then, my one gripe. While I’ve not experienced any mechanical or structural failure, if you would scroll up to the 2nd picture of the wheel from a low camera angle. If you follow the stem down under the wheel body you’ll see a bolt. This is a hex/allen wrench bolt which the stem connects to. The issue I’ve found is one of my five wheels has developed a very minor lateral tilt because the stem and this bolt have come partially unscrewed which causes a temporary bind when the wheel needs to rotate to a different orientation. I can hand tighten by holding the small plate the bolt sits on which solves the issue short term, but because of clearance with the wheel I can’t get a hex wrench in to actually get some resistance to tighten the stem up. I’m planning to see if I can get the axel off to disassemble each wheel and, after examining if it would help, maybe put some locktite threadlocker on to make it a permanent fix. Will update review if this is possible for those fellow DIY’ers.Overall, if you’re looking for an upgrade to an office chair, I would say the $40 price tag may initially seem a bit high but if you get as much use as I have out of these they’re a good purchase.

    It’s ok

The casters are almost too slippery on hardwood floors, but at the same time almost not rolling on carpets. Especially if your floor isn’t flat, you’ll find yourself constantly fighting against the chair. The rubber material would not damage either the floor or carpet. This is about the only benefit comparing to the more common dual plastic wheel casters.

Should have purchased these long ago – really great product

I replaced my old Aeron wheels which were noisy and dragging. The replacements are dead simple to install just pull out you existing wheels and push in the new ones. No tools needed in my case. The new ones are super quiet on wooden floor and roll with ease making it fun to move the chair around again. I give them 5 stars for sure and am very happy I upgraded. I should have upgraded a long time ago. The bearings are very functional and you can easily move around and change in any direction.

Wheels are great, but The center bolt gets loose on the wheels. Now the wheel is at a sharp angle breaking the base insert of my Amazon Office Chair. Repair required.

    Quality construction, odd problem

Many of these rollerblade style wheels are cheaply made. The ball bearings come out after moderate use. So I splurged for these, as they appeared higher quality. They are higher quality. They roll smoothly and look good. Unfortunately, for some mechanical reason Ive yet to figure out.. the set i got periodically refuse to roll one direction or another. Like.. you will suddenly be able to go side to side in your chair, but good luck getting it to scoot forward a single inch. Or you can roll back, but you need to go a few inches to the side to get to a printer.. not happening today. They are good solid wheels.. except for this random “you can go the one direction you need to” problem. But the company made good on their product. I will order them again if the next set of wheels I purchased dont work out.

    Kinda Pricey

Overall a good product, but they’re kinda overpriced compared to the competition. I got these for a little extra ground clearance, since I use a chair mat. I’m not sure the blue is worth the extra price as the wheels age and begin to discolor.

Way better than the cheap plastic stock wheels on most chairs

They hold up well to even some of us larger folks when standard wheels might not. They also work well enough to not need a mat under your chair on hard floors and even roll ok through short carpet with ease. They move so easily that it may take a bit to get used to the fact that you can’t easily stay still with them. Even a slight movement in your chair will have them roll, but they are worth getting used to.

    Didn’t work out for me.

I was super excited about these and really wanted to like them, however, I took each one out of the box as soon as I got them and just spun the top back and forth a few times. I found that 2 out of the 5 casters did not spin smoothly and would get “stuck” while rotating. It almost felt like there may have been debris in the bearings or something else preventing a smooth rotation in the bearing housing. I’m not going to slam the seller because this may have been an isolated case of receiving a bad part and I didn’t bother with dealing with support or anything so I can’t comment on how responsive they might have been to remedy the issue, but I ended up returning these for a different set which were a better match esthetically with my new chair anyway. Hope you have a better experience if you opt for these. What I learned: spin the top part back and forth as soon as you receive these (or any casters, blade wheel or not) to ensure they spin smoothly before installing them.

Avoid this product – defective and poor customer service – Updated

After about a month of use, two of the wheels became loose between the skirt and the swivel bearings, making them jam and not turn. I bought these because they were supposed to be engineered to be smooth and durable. I contacted customer service and requested replacements. They replied and asked for additional information, which I provided. After four weeks with no response, I contacted them again. This time replacement wheels were delivered. Hopefully these wheels will be better.I have upgraded the review to three stars since the replacements were finally received.

    These wheels are great…

…until the bolt that holds the stud and bearings comes loose. I have had a great experience with these until one of the bolts came loose recently (purchased a few months ago) and now whenever I try to move my chair, that one wheel just stops me dead. It needs a hex wrench, but you can’t get one in there because the wheel partially blocks access, and you can’t take the wheel off because the axle is not removable. I’ve tried to tighten it the best I can with my thumb, but it comes loose again a few hours later. If you’re thinking about going to their contact page for help, don’t bother, because the site will flash a big red error telling you to try again later, no matter what browser you use. I would rate these wheels 5 stars overall, but I’m deducting 3 stars for having a broken contact page. I know there’s a phone number to contact them, but I have social anxiety and avoid calls and talking on the phone like the plague. It would be great if someone from the company contacted me about this issue so that I can get back to my wheeling and change my rating to a 5 like it should be. The wheels really are the best I’ve used, seeing as how I’ve bought three different brands over the years and these are the smoothest, nicest, best built ones I’ve had yet. Just understand that you’re buying them at the risk of possibly getting a set with a defective wheel, which is probably rare, considering how few reviews there are mentioning any issues.

    These wheels are incredible…

I like many others, did not believe the statements made on Amazon about these wheels and just how good they are… I was ordering a new desk and these popped up in the “customers who ordered this desk also ordered…” and since the price was fairly low and I hated the factory wheels on my chair (office supply store model) I said “why not??” and ordered a set… These are hands down the best wheels I have ever had on a chair, regardless of price… I even jokingly told my friends that I now live in fear of the forced air heating system as it could blow me across the room these wheels are so smooth… I highly recommend these…

These did not work well for me on low pile carpet

I put these on my Titan XL. The install was easy and it worked fine on hardwood, but the wheels struggled to rotate correctly on this carpet. This is a pretty normal area carpet, so it’s not like I was dealing with anything thick, they just didn’t rotate correctly. Eventually, the pressure of not rotating correctly caused one of the wheels to snap off.

    Just what I needed!

Needed replacement wheels for a gaming chair I had purchased. It came with these plastic wheels that would grind internally when trying to roll on them and would barely move at all. Very frustrating considered the price that was paid. Ordered these as replacements and I couldn’t be happier! Easy to snap in and they roll perfect, even on carpet! If you need new chair wheels, I highly recommend these.

    Wheel bolts came loose

The media could not be loaded.

I needed a softer wheel for hardwood floors. The base was originally plastic. Within a month the wheels came loose and caused the plastic base to twist and snap off. I had to buy a steel base for the chair to make it stronger but now I have to use a hex wrench that barely fits in the space available to tighten them. My guess is they didn’t use the right loctite to keep the bolts from coming out.

    Smooth easy-to-install wheels

I tried another brand of “roller blade” style of wheels and dual plastic wheels with rubber coating in order to try and protect the wooden floor I would be using my chair on in my home office. I did consider getting a protective mat but kept reading reviews on how they end up getting worn out or roll up on the edges. The first pair of rollerblade wheels I got were ok. They felt of high quality but they had weird resistance when changing directions. I tried to get used to them but it got annoying having resistance when switching directions so I got rid of them. The other type looked like the plastic ones that came with my chair but had rubber coating on the wheels making them safe for wooden floors. These seemed promising but had huge resistance rolling around. Switching directions was ok but having to exert extra force to move around was annoying. After looking around, I decided to give these a try. I wish they came in a more subtle black color but that’s a minor problem I have. These came packaged like any other wheels in a small box. The box was slightly dented but that ok. Inside was a manual/calendar and 5 wheels individually wrapped in bubble wrap. There was a whiff of herbal medicine smell (not weed) when I opened the box.The wheels seem of high quality and feel very durable with good materials. Install was quick and easy, simply lay your chair on the ground, pull the old wheels off, slide the new ones on.Initial impressions: they roll very smoothly as expected and do not seem to have as much resistance when switching directions. The resistance is still there, but I think it will be there with this style of wheels.Hopefully these will work as intended and protect my floors and continue rolling smoothly and not wear out quickly.

Not even 12 months and they are falling apart.

So this item was purchased in January 2021. The review that I’m writing is December 31, 2021. I recently over the past two weeks have been losing the bearings/balls as they are randomly falling out. I was hoping that this would not be an issue as well as Not happened within 12 months. Anyways they were fine while they lasted at this point I’ll be moving on to another brand.

I purchased these wheels in the fall because I thought they couldn’t hurt. I could see the advantage and ability to protect the floor. Little did I realize that these were a game-changer. Well…

These certainly look better than the Oasis Original blah blah blah that I had on prior. These are also slightly shorter– which is nice because the refurbished Steelcase Leap V2 I own has a faulty gas cylinder that prevents it from staying compressed if you don’t sit in it for too long though it still doesn’t match the height of my desk. I can live with that. I’ve seen folks complain about these bending, and I feel like that’s an issue for all office chair replacement wheels. These are not designed for NASA or the military– they’re cheap rebranded office chairs made in China. There are some highly visible cracks in a bend that might be the powder coat or might be the metal cracking. I can’t be sure but it is concerning. They’re less maneuverable than the previous set of wheels but maybe they take time to break in.If these break and I fall I’m going to be pretty upset. Otherwise they seem to do what I needed them to do.

    Quality office chair wheel upgrade

I’ve always been frustrated with the wheels that come standard on office chairs, but never really thought there was much to be done about it. Upon finding this product, I was unable to resist the desire to try them out. And I have been very impressed with the purchase so far!I have a standard “gaming”-style chair, and these fit as expected. But as soon as the chair is upright, you notice the difference! The movement of the chair is much more reactive and fluid. I don’t experience much resistance at all when I pivot between spots at my desk. And while I didn’t have many noise issues with my previous wheels, and wasn’t expecting much there, these are definitely quieter, which I did notice immediately. I guess I had never realized what sort of noises the wheels were making before, but the noise void after is definitely noticeable.Because I move between different spots at the desk frequently, I would also need to adjust the orientation of the chair legs rather often. This is now very simple, and doesn’t require lifting up off the chair at all. Basically the chair just feels easier to move around. There could be one drawback if you were on a particularly non-level surface, however. My floor is level, so its not an issue, but I am left wondering how easily the chair would roll away due to gravity. this model does not have any form of wheel lock, which could be a challenge in certain scenarios. All things considered however, and especially for my own uses, this has been a great addition to my chair!

    Questionable quality

I’m a 180lb man using these wheels on an office chair rolling on solid flooring, not carpet. One of the wheels already failed at under a month. The wheels that these replaced were already two years old and still functioned perfectly. I moved into a new home and bought these new wheels to protect my floors. The bearing inside of the wheel didn’t fail, but the caster that allows it still spin in circles failed. The failed caster became instantly loud once it failed and made it difficult to slide the chair. When I checked it out, the wheel was able to rock side to side because the caster had failed. Amazon quickly sent me a replacement set, but I can’t recommend anything that fails so quickly with lots of negative reviews. It’s a great concept that needs better quality control.

Worked perfectly in my Classic Aeron

THE NITTY GRITTYIn general these casters do roll smooth and nice, not amazing on deep carpet, but I wouldn’t expect them to. I still have my mat under these which I find a bit of a nuisance, but I prefer it to help keep from breaking down the carpet and pad and causing worn dirty areas with constant rolling and my shoes. I understand these wheels are better for this than traditional casters but I already purchased the mat and am choosing to use it for now. These also present a very good build quality. They elevate the chair, so if your’re a taller person and need an extra inch in height or so you may want to spend $40 on these vs. A taller Herman Miller cylinder that you will need to purchase special tools or hire out the service, which will likely cost in the low $100s to $200.My home office gets a good amount of light but within a week of installation I’ve not noticed the wheels glowing in the dark yet.A BIT MOREI have my chair in a carpeted home office. This chair was a hand me down and had hard surface casters. Initially I put a hard mat down but the problem with the Aeron is that the lift cylinder is very close to the floor. Before the mat the cylinder was brushing against the carpet, after placing the mat it would do something similar. So after some searching it brought me to this style of caster as a solution.I love that these casters elevate the chair by an inch to inch and a half. i’m a taller person but all Aerons, even the remastered come standard with a cylinder that has a max height that is a bit short. I have an Aeron remasterd at my work office as well that I replaced the existing cylinder with a new taller cylinder which was expensive to do.

    THE Best Customer Service

I had a problem with a bearing on one of my wheels and I did the return thing like always with Amazon. Within hours I got emails asking what happened and if there was anything they (the original seller) could do. I’ve never seen this level of service even from Amazon (who falls flat a lot of the time).Kudos for the service. I love these wheels. They are really solid and they look cool in my opinion. I’m using them on a glass floormat (which is cool itself) and these wheels can take it when I move slightly off and then back on.I’m just impressed. Thanks all.

    Great improvement from factory wheels

I had a little trouble removing the original wheels from the chair. Obviously, though, that doesn’t reflect in any way on this product.I also had a little difficulty putting on the replacement wheels. I don’t think that’s a flaw of any sort: it seems you’d want the fit to be very tight (to ensure that they stay in place once installed). Mostly, that difficulty was a function of being concerned about applying enough force to install the wheels but not using so much force that I damaged the wheels or the chair itself. As it turns out, I probably couldn’t have damaged either while using typical non-power hand tools.Anyway, once I got them installed, they were a *great* improvement over the original wheels — much sturdier and they definitely rolled more easily … including on long carpet. They aren’t cheap, but — given the problems I was having with the original wheels — they were worth the cost to me.(One note: the height of the wheels, compared to the height of the original wheels, does cause the chair to sit a couple inches higher. That’s not a problem for me, but any potential buyer should be aware, particularly a potential buyer who’s persnickety.)

    A very real difference

I inherited an office chair. A nice chair. The first thing I did was drop it off the truck bed and break a caster. I pulled the broken caster and measured the mount to find it to be 11 mm or 7/16. I then asked Amazon to show me casters if this size, and these appeared. I read the specs, was impressed, price reasonable, so I bought them, they arrived the next day. I pulled off the old and installed these quick and easy. I sat down to give them a try, and WOW! A chair that is silent, and moves smooth and easy. they are better than Herman Miller. I will be upgrading other chairs soon.

    Quality Counts

I bought a decent office chair for school since I was in front of the computers so much. The down side was that the wheels were a very poor quality which made it hard to move and very hard on the floors both at home and at school. These wheels were a true upgrade to the ones that came with the chair. Worth every penny!

    Best Ever!

These are the best castors I have ever used. They are very sturdy, roll like a dream, and are safe for any floor. You would probably need a mat over thick carpet, but I would highly recommend these to anyone. They raised my chair up just a tad, which was a good thing for me. Smooth as silk. You better be careful or you will roll across the room without trying. Thank you so much! I had a question, and customer service was super fast to reply, like within the hour. Nicely done. Nicely done.

Quiet and easy to install on Costco desk chair

The Costco desk chair shown originally had 2″ diameter hard plastic wheels. It rolled on a glass mat, and made some noise as all 5 wheels rolled on the surface. Easily pulled the old ones out (black ones, obviously), and installed the larger diameter STEALTHO wheels. The new wheel diameter is about 2.75″.PROS: Easy to install. Very quiet – I can’t hear the wheels roll across the glass. Rolls extremely smoothly due to actual roller bearings (box says ABEC 9 bearings) and polyurethane wheels. Wheel frame is steel, I believe, and is beautifully finished.CONS: None really. Box says they glow in the dark, but I shined a very bright light at a wheel, and turned off the lights and it did not glow.

    Nothing magical about these casters

Style: I really enjoy the black/blue colors as that fits my other furniture and decor.Noise: They don’t squeak, but do make some noise as you shift them around (moving back and forth, rotating them) but it is not really bothersome to me.Maneuverability: Honestly, I am a bit disappointed, but maybe I was expecting too much. These perform only slightly better better on carpet than the standard casters for my Steelcase Gesture chair (note: they were the ones labelled for carpet). The improvement is only in turning the wheels because they are more narrow, but they still struggle to rotate and sometimes get stuck enough where I have to roll back and forth to get enough momentum to move. For reference: my chair weighs around 75lbs and I weigh under 150lbs; my carpet is short pile and medium thickness. These are great on hard wood and laminate.Quality: The paint is fairly bubbly and has some scratches even though it was well packaged, which is not a terrible issue because they sit on the floor so it will never be noticed. The barrings used seem like cheap skate barrings and I wish I could swap them out for better ones, but unfortunately it appears that the axle cannot be removed.Glow in the dark feature: This is really just a gimmick. They glow but only after being charged with fairly direct light. I generally keep the lights vary bright in my office space, but unless I have bright lights installed under my desk, these wheels will not glow (even the exposed ones that are getting a fair amount of overhead light).Overall: They are good casters, but not the “Magic Office Chair Caster Wheels” as were advertised on Kickstarter. I would recommend them if you are on hard floors, but I think carpets still need those terrible plastic mats to roll comfortably.

    Worth it.

Bought these because we had issues with the chair pad sliding on the carpet. The wheels were cheaper than another chair pad so decided to give these a shot. Super easy to install, took about 30 seconds. Rolls fine directly on our medium carpet. I mean it’s not the same as rolling on tile or hardwood, but rolls easily enough. Bought a 2nd set for our other chair.

Great at first, but long term issues

Everything was great about these for 6 months or so, but eventually my chair started ‘hanging’, where the wheels wouldn’t rotate causing it to be a huge pain to roll where I wanted to go.I assumed my base was wearing out and letting the wheels wobble, but when I examined them more closely the problem turned out to be these wheels. There is a large allen head bolt that attaches the rotating base to the center pin from underneath. If that bolt loosens, the wheels themselves will develop a wobble, and when that happens they rub against their own frame, preventing them from turning. If there was any way to get an allen wrench into that spot I could probably just tighten them (or better yet remove+loc-tite+tighten), and they’d probably be just fine, but the wheels are positioned in a way that completely blocks access to that bolt.Very, very close to a great product, but not reliable long term. Hopefully they adjust the design to correct…

Cannot Tighten Loose Bolt – Great Wheels & Issue Fixed By Seller

**UPDATE** The seller reached out and communicated well with me on getting this issue solved by offering a replacement. As I say below, the wheels are great aside from this issue I had with 1 out of 5 wheels. I would recommend the product individually and the seller overall. These work great and are a good value – except for that one wheel’s bolts going up the connection into the chair is loose after a couple months. This means every couple of days I need to hand tighten the bolt back down or else it extends too far and could break the chair or shear the bolt off. The wheel itself overhangs to where the bolt connects, meaning there is no way to tighten this down any further with the needed allen-wrench.

Amazing at first, 5star for 6months. After they have ~1.5 years of use, 3.25star

When these were new, the chair glided effortlessly and the wheels don’t scuff up my wood laminate flooring. They’re quiet and they do not scuff my laminate flooring, so they originally got 5 stars. However, I have now removed 1 star after 6 months: the wheels have worn down slightly such that there is now more surface area of the wheel contacting the floor. This creates a problem, because now the wheels require more effort to spin under weight (as the castors need to spin to move in a certain direction), and the chair has become difficult to move in certain directions unless you drastically shift your sitting weight. After using another brand for about 6months, I think I would deduct another 0.75 star for a final rating of 3.5. The only reason for this additional deduction is that these wheels simply do not last long. Additionally, when they wear, the ground contact point enlarges, making them not freely rotate. In addition to making it difficult to move, it actually starts to damage/erode softer flooring due to the friction. They will need to be replaced to maintain their 5-star performance

Excellent replacement casters, but needs some loc-tite

These roll really well, even on medium carpet, and I love them except for one thing. One of the casters started to loosen up and due to tight clearance with the wheel normal allen wrenches won’t fit. I can only get it to tighten up for a week or so then I feel it flopping around when I move my chair. When they get loose like that they threaten to fold up. The other 4 wheels show no sign of loosening at this point.Solid product otherwise.

    Fantastic upgrade and amazing support!

These wheels are a HUGE upgrade over the stock wheels that came with my chair. What’s equally impressive is the support from the manufacturer. This is the second set of these wheels that I’ve purchased, but there was an issue with one of them after a month of use. The manufacturer was quick to respond and sent me a replacement immediately. Smooooooth!!!!!

I have a disability that makes it difficult to get around. I cant afford any of those special mobility products so I scoot around on an old office chair. Our whole house has tile flooring. and while I use the chair mostly in the kitchen (cooking, etc.)moving around like this gets to be a chore after a while because pulling forward puts a lot of strain on my lower back and knees. Going backward is fine except, well no matter the direction, my legs and back start to hurt terribly and getting over the wide grout joints that I inevitably get stuck in can be impossible without half standing and pulling the chair behind. Then the clunk, clunk, clunk sound and impact sending shockwaves up my spine, cuts short any activity I may be in the middle of. The other thing is the scraping sound of the plastic wheels on the beautiful finish on the glazed tiles leaves me in fear of making a gouge or breaking a wheel and possibly toppling over. OK enough of the back story here. One day on a whim, I did a search on replacement wheels for office chairs. I wasn’t counting on getting a hit but when 100’s of choices came up I was shocked. My girl-wife(?) wife-friend(?) significant something(?) something partner(?) shook her head and laughed because she knows that once again (like 100s of other times) I will be lost in “research” (web searches), entries in my notebook, head scratching, yammering on to her about the history of the product, asking her opinion, (which is always either “I don’t care” or “whatever you decide or makes you happy.”) then pulling the plug (hitting the enter key on the order. This is followed by what used to be days of anxiety, that feeling you get after leaving the car dealership with your new car. You did the research, you negotiated, you stood firm, you walked, went back and finally “pulled the plug.” Now for hours of signing papers, detailing the car, doing whatever “secret stuff” car dealers do. Then you leave, confident that back at the dealership they’re all high fiving, laughing, opening champagne, all because they can’t believe they found someone to buy that 4 wheeled lemon. You are positive something is going to break on the drive home. The next few days you show it to your family, friends, coworkers and you’re sure that they too are snickering and saying things like how they’ve “never seen such an ugly vehicle”, “isn’t that the worst rated vehicle ever?” , “I wouldn’t take it for free….” etc. Anyway…….Thanks to Chairskliz, our wait is now (in my area anyway) only 2 days and many times just one. Here they are. I get the message on my phone that they are delivered and LOOK! Thats them leaning up against the wall next to the front door….MY WHEELS!!!So seriously. The package was absolutely beautiful and upon opening there is some papers describing the product and showing how easy it’s going to be to put them on unless it’s an Ikea chair. The ONLY chair they dont fit is IKEA. I”m pretty sue that if you bought an IKEA chair, your not the type to switch out the wheels on it. You know it’s going to break long before the wheels show even a hint of wear (it may have broke while you were ordering the wheels just knowing too much was going tobe asked from it). so, back to the install I grab 2 sizes of screwdriver and pliers and a small pry bar and a pair of safety glasses. I turn over the chair and figure I’ll give a wheel a good pull using just my fierce strength (did I say fierce? I crack myself up with that one) and with a great tug, I slam myself in the chin with the wheel never realizing that “hey..they weren’t lying about the easy part. Each leg gave up it wheel freely and the new ones slipped in even easier. I turn the chair over and give it a solid push only to find it careening down the hall stopping only inches from a step down into the Florida room. I was thrilled to note the hardest part was turning over this 5 legged beast (which actually slid/fell the first 2 times then once more to right it. Here we go. First flight. The first thing I find is you better have a good grip on the arms while you slide you posterior onto the beast otherwise it WILL try to run out from under you, Especially on the hard smooth tile floor. Like a seasoned cowboy I gracefully (stop laughing) lower the chair a little and down I go. Hmmm. Despite lowering the chair a bit, I’m still sitting at the same height as previous because the wheels are taller than the original. With a slight push off with right foot I’m gliding back down the hall almost all the to where I started. Now the true test. Pulling forward. First, getting the wheels to turn 180 degrees was a bit clumsy. Notbecause of the wheels but because this is a challenge for any wheeled beastie. The key is not to push directly opposite the direction you were heading, but to perform a somewhat circular motion and all 5 wheels will then be redirected and off you go. Now, the effort required to pull forward is much greater than to puch backward and that is simply a matter of physics and body mechanics. It is however 50% easier than it was with the old wheels. I love them. I’m able to spend 25-50% more time wheeling around than before. It is a much gentler ride over the tiles with the hard rubber type wheels . I’m sure a lot of credit is due the excellent (seem so anyway) bearings in the wheels. No more clunk clunk but now a mostly inaudible passing over the grout lines with minimal jarring of my spine. Another good thing is now I can maneuver over the floor mat in front of the sink where before I had to roll it up because the chair would come to a sudden halt if trying to maneuver over it with the old wheels. Its been just a few days but I love, love, love these wheels. I can once again chase the dog and cat through the house. I hope you enjoyed my review and got a few laughs. Something we don’t seem o be doing enough of these days. I truly love the wheels guys. I would not have put forth ANY effort to review them if I wasn’t serious about the product. That would mean if I hated them I still would have taken the time to say that. Thanks Stealtho for making a difference and improving my life. With my disabilities, time is precious when everything you do takes so much longer than it does for others. Movement is crucial to staying active however movement equals pain so anything that helps with movement, lessens pain and or gives more time in your day is a blessing.Tony C

    love these!

man, i really didnt like the caster wheels that came with my officemax chair. i love that chair but then i saw these and after a while decided to go ahead and give them a whirl. i do have hardwood floors too and those crappy caster wheel picked up everything and scratched the heck out of my floors.i do not have to worry about that now. these dont seem to pick up any crap and scratch the floors but also, the height increase, maybe an inch makes my chair the perfect height now. when i want to roll on these they just so effortlessly roll across the floor and yet they dont roll when i dont want them to. i wasnt sure how much of an effect these would have but i am EXTREMELY happy. the quality you get versus cheaper versions wiht these too is still impressive!i am extremely happy and would recommend these to anyone!

Intellectual Patent? Did the job, so what?

Interesting to have an intellectual patent on office chair wheels. I don’t know much about patents but this brand did the job. I’m sure other brands on Amazon would also do the job. It’s a office chair wheel, not sure how ya can screw it up.

    Very quiet, unfortunate flaw.

I like the quiet noise level, I like the ease of instalation. What I don’t like shown in pictures is I don’t have access for an allen wrench to tighten bolt. The size of the wheel blocks interferes with tightening it.A couple of the wheels are starting to come loose. I wish there was some thread lock applied to this during the installation process.

Great wheels, if you don’t have pets. Good wheels if you do.

Construction of the wheels are great, feel like they will last forever. At first they rolled with ease on my hardwood floors. Had to re-adjust the amount of force I was using when rolling around, because I kept rolling into things accidentally. If you don’t have pets, these wheels are a must buy. If you do have pets, these wheels are a must buy with a warning (and the reason for a 4 star review)The wheel bearings trap dog hair easily and then become restricted. Easily fixable by pulling the wheel off and cutting out the hair with a box cutter. Only takes a couple minutes, but still kinda annoying. I have 4 dogs, so this is a weekly thing. After removing the hair, wheels operate as intended again, only for a week to go buy and they become restricted again. Not sure if design can fix this hairy situation, but having a model for people who owns dogs would be great.Outside of this one complaint, these wheels are recommended, especially if you don’t have pets.

Rolls smooth as glass – almost too smooth!

The wheels were easy to install. They roll very quietly, reducing noise from the chair rolling in the bedroom above me very significantly. We use the wheels on hardwood floors to help protect them. It seems to do the trick. They are much better from a noise and scuffing perspective. However, any slope on the floor, and you’ll be finding your chair wandering a bit! And, sometimes you just want your chair to stay put while sitting in it. Any latteral force from you sitting in the chair makes it roll. Sometimes you just want it to stay put. That would be my only complaint – I sometimes find myself adjusting my position at the desk more than I’d like. On commercial carpet or other less hard surface, I’m sure this isn’t something that happens. Maybe as the wheels get worn in a bit more, they won’t be quite so easy to roll. The other part that is different, is the “trail” the wheels have. Their axle position is away from the stem more than many wheels, so sometimes changing direction when rolling requires a bit more oomph than other wheels. Let’s hope they are as durable as well as they roll!

Good strong wheels, but didn’t work out for me

I bought these when I got a Secret Lab Titan XL chair as I was hoping to not have to use a chair mat on my low pile carpet. Unfortunately, the wheels did not move easily on the carpet. I put a VERY thick chair mat back under the chair and while the wheels did roll easy on it, after 4 months of almost daily use, the wheels would cause small indentions on the mat making it hard to roll. Granted I am a big guy at 320lbs, but even still I expected better from these. I installed the original wheels to my chair and now I don’t have this issue on my mat. The mat has no markings or indentions now meaning I can glide all over the mat throughout the day without issue. My only guess on why I had this problem with these wheels was the force coming down over a single point, where as the OEM wheels have two sides to them to distribute weight. I am sure someone lighter or with a hard tile/wood floor, these would be good.

Failed in less than a month.

When I installed these I was blown away. They were smooth, quiet and seemed super tough. However, They are starting to fail at the swivel joint causing the wheels to lean to one side or another and making it nearly impossible to move in the chair while seated. Now, I feel for most folks this will not be an issue. I am a Very Large guy 350Lbs. But, myself and my chair are not over 650lbs(the reported MAX Load)… They were installed correctly and I was on a hardwood floor with no obstacles, bumps or cables to cause resistance. Who knows maybe I just got a bad set. Like I said, Most folks will not have to worry about this but If you are a Larger individual these may not hold up. Follow up: the seller reached out to us and offered a refund. Excellent support of their product.

Possible Design Flaw; But Great Customer Service

I **LOVE** rollerblade wheels on your office chair!!The stealth-o design has more of an enclosure over its caster bearings on top. I saw reviews from competitors that talked about the balls falling out over time. Cannot happen with STEALTH-O. BUT after a year the caster bearing on one of my wheels stopped working smoothly. I suspect hair or such has gotten into that enclosure and cannot come out. This means that the chair gets stuck and cannot move in all directions smoothly. This could be a design failure here.I wrote to STEALTHO after about 1.5 years and even though I was well outside the warrantee period, they offered to send me a new wheel and pay shipping and all. Their customer service is really top notch.

    Wow! Love these things!

Smooth as silk. Glide like a dream. And best of all they won’t be picking up sewing threads from my sewing room floor and causing me to spend hours picking them out! Should have bought these things years ago. Love them.

A small investment, with a great return rate.

In my home office room, I have two office chairs with wheels, which I bought more than 30 years ago. They are still in very good condition and one of the reasons for this is because they were of the highest quality available at the time of purchase. But the wheels, although not locked up, were not rolling well. Initially, I thought that there could be hair and lines tangled in them, but inspecting the units I found no problems. Perhaps they were just past their useful life. So, after an extensive search, I decidedr to buy replacement sets from Stealtho .The installation process was simple and easy and the new wheels made using my chairs a breeze. No more having problems moving around and no marks on the floor (ceramic tiles) either. I am very glad about the results. If you are also considering replacing the wheels of your chair, I do recommend the Stealtho for its quality and as the proper solution to the existing problems.Just a suggestion for the installation process: after removing the old wheels, use a round wire brush (11mm or 7/16in diameter) to clean the inside of the seating tube, then remove the debris and apply a light film of grease. This will ease up the insertion of the new wheels and assure you can easily remove them later, if necessary.
